You may have a few questions before you decide to work with me.
You’re tired of feeling anxious and twisted up like a pretzel. You’re ready to feel settled in your mind, body, emotions and in your relationships. It’s time to invest in your overall well-being.
You’re about to pick up the phone to call, but wait! You’re not quite sure if you’re ready. Isn’t it funny how your 4 oz cell phone all of sudden weighs a million pounds. I get it. Let me start by answering some of your questions here.
Do you offer telehealth, video sessions, or online sessions?
Yes, I use a secure HIPAA compliant platform to offer video therapy. If you have any questions regarding this process, please reach out to me here.
How long does therapy take?
There are a lot of factors that contribute to the length of therapy, so it is difficult to predict until we begin working together. Typically, clients commit to therapy for 6 months and progress is measured monthly.
How often do we meet?
I have found that meeting weekly improve my clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, I meet with my clients weekly. We will establish a set to time to meet each week and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment.
But wait! That’s a lot. Why do we meet so much?
Doing healing work at the level that will sustain long-term change takes time. It’s a commitment. Clients that invest in the time get better faster and with less relapse into old patterns.
Do you give homework?
Yes, especially in the beginning. I will suggest things for you do to at home that supports the work we do in our therapy sessions. I have found that clients make significantly faster progress when they do the homework. Much of the homework is to support the integration of the deep work we do in session.
What can I expect to happen during our time together?
Generally speaking, during the first 1-3 sessions, we will do a thorough history and establish specific goals for your therapy. The next 3-4 sessions, we will develop a tool kit for dealing with the current stressors that brought you to counseling. In the last part of therapy, we will do the deep diving work to help heal the roots of problems that brought you to counseling.
What kind of results can I expect from counseling?
My clients feel less anxious, more in control of their thoughts and emotions, and less reactive in their relationships. Overall, they feel less triggered and are able to respond to situations in life, rather than be hijacked by old reactions. At the end of therapy, they feel more peace and calm and aren’t limited by old worn out ways of viewing themselves and the world. They experience a new level of freedom.
What if I need to cancel our appointment or I get sick?
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy, so if you need to cancel, make sure you give me 24 hours notice to avoid paying the late cancellation fee, which is the full session rate. I offer phone and video sessions in case something happens last minute that prevents you from coming to your appointment.
What is your availability?
I see clients Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. I currently have a few limited openings for new clients.
Rather than worrying about scheduling a different time every single week, I set aside a weekly appointment time that’s protected for you - I won’t schedule anyone else during your time.
How are you handling COVID-19?
I am providing virtual therapy services when I am out of the office. I don’t know how long this is going to last. The great news is, virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person. For clients who feel comfortable I still do provide in-person sessions. Clients can choose to meet in the office or for an outdoor hike,
What about if the weather is bad?
Sometimes, the weather in New Jersey is bad - snow storms, icy streets, floods. I rarely closes during inclement weather. If you ever feel unsafe making it to the office, you can cancel with 24+ hours notice. If the weather is bad we can always offer a phone or video session instead.
Do you take insurance?
I am not contracted with any insurance companies directly, however, I do offer a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement using your Out-of-Network benefits.
